BPF and Congress fighting hard in 64 Paneri LAC

Election scenario in Bhergaon Sub-division is hotting up day by day. There are two constituencies in Bhergaon Sub-division namely-64 Panery and 65 Kalaigaon LAC.64 Panery LAC is likely to witness a straight contest between BPF and Congress in the comming assembly poll to be held on April 11.Altogather ten candidates are contesting from this constituency namely -Kamali Basumatari present MLA,(BPF); Santias Kunjur, present EM of BTC(Cong);Kumud Das (UDPF);Swarnalata Chaliha (Ind);Upen Das (BJP);Bolen Sarania (AUDF);Ratneswar Rabha (ATC);Tulsi Kunjur (Ind);Fwnswrang Bodosa (Ind);Hitesh Sarma (Ind). As per the latest election activity the LAC is supposed to witness a straight contest between Kamali Basumatari of BPF and Santias kunjur of Congress.

There are 124947 voters in this constituency. In the last assembly election in 2006,Kamali Basumatari of BPF (with 26,398 votes) defeated Tulsi Kunjur of Congress (21,294 votes) by a margin of 5104 votes.State AGP vice president Durga Das Bodo secured third position with 17,663 votes. But neither Das Bodo nor any other AGP candidate are contesting this time from Paneri LAC, leaving AGP supporters to vote for their own choice. The absence of AGP candidate will of course benifited Santias Kunjur of Congress. He has posed hardles on the way of BPF from Paneri constituency. On the otherhand Tulsi Kunjur (Ind) had been the official Congress candidate in 2006 from Paneri LAC and secured second position. He has been denied Congress ticket this time and is contesting as an independent candidate posing threat to Santias Kunjur for the division of tea tribe votes. Majority of non Bodo general voters including Assamese and Bengali community,if support Congress candidate then victory will be easy for Congress.A faction of tea garden people have opposed congress candidate supporting Tulsi Kunjur. But from all the indication seen till now, BPF and Congress will fight tooth and nail for winning 64 Paneri LAC.
